Lesson One: Introduction
Lesson One: Getting Started
squish
Mari-chan: Welcome to lesson one, everyone! First off I'd like to say that this page is basically designed for people who have little to moderate experience in anime, so if you've been drawing Sailor Moon since you were two, this might be boring for you. Feel free to skip around if you want, but I can't guarantee it'll all make sense if you do- just a warning. So with that out of the way, we can begin. I'll be using my own experience in drawing anime-style as well as a handy book I got called "How to Draw Anime and Manga."

Materials
Mari-chan: Ah yes, the best way to begin is with materials. You will need a pencil and a piece of paper. No, seriously. I know professional artists use quality $500 pens and such, but the best way to begin drawing anything is to start simple. When you get to the point in drawing when you don't need to sketch first and don't need to erase, then you can start using pen from the start, but personally I don't do that, I only use pen after I've at least sketched what I want in pencil. You can use any kind of paper, although if you're going to draw something really nice I'd reccomend using unlined white paper. You can also get really nice ink-absorbing paper that they use for color printers, and this is very good for using pens/paints. However, any paper will do. note: however, For pencils, I'd recommend using a mechanical pencil with .5 lead, because you won't have to sharpen it and you get good detail and even lines.
