Anyway That You Want Me [single]
Released by Dedicated in 1990 and rerelease
on Sub Pop in 1995
Track Listing:
1.Anyway That You Want Me (Troggs cover)
2.Step Into The Breeze (part 1)
3.Step Into The Breeze (part 2) 12" and CD
This CD is remarkable because despite
the fact that it is a Spiriualized release, Dedicated stamped a Spacemen
3 logo on the front. Shows were promoted with the Spacemen name, so this
CD bascially led to the breakup. Kate did not appear, but Jason dedicated
the CD to her anyway.

8.Take Your Time
9.Shine A Light
10.Angel Sigh
11.Sway
12.200 Bars
Recorded a long time before release, and
mixed and mixed and mixed (sense a pattern?) During this time drummer
Jon Mattock recorded an album withJosephine Wiggs under the name Honey
Tongue. The UK CD release grouped the songs into four tracks as follows:
1.You Know It's True / If I
Were With Her Now / I Want You
2.Run / Smiles / Step Into The
Breeze / Symphony Space
3.Take Your Time / Shine A Light
4.Angel Sigh / Sway / 200 Bars
Reissue versions of LGM (with the four groups
of songs) apparently have a defect at the beginning of "Angel Sigh" where
the
song starts, jumps back, and then starts
in again later in the song. The German reissue (Dedicated ZD75330 - which
has the
songs apart instead of grouped together into
four) doesn't have the skip.

Mixed and remixed and finally released, the
product of two weeks in the studio and two years in the mixing room.
Here's an interesting article, ripped from
another site: (sorry to whoever wrote it)
The original version of "Ladies And Gentlemen..."
used a fair bit of the song "Can't
Help Falling in Love", made famous by
Elvis Presley and the original songwriters balked at their inclusion. Ironically,
the "foolsrush in" segment, which Spiritualized kept in, was actually written
by Alexander Pope in his "An Essay on Criticism: Part 3"which the "Can't
Help Falling In Love" songwriters originally lifted from. A last-minute
remix was worked up before the official release of the album, but not before
Dedicated sent out advance copies of the album. These advance CDs with
the original version of "...Floating In Space" are in a CD single case
with no sleeve or details. A few copies of the 12 x 3" (with the original
version) leaked out along with 50 copies of the deluxe 5" CD which were
sent to label managers and the Mercury Music Prize people.
Dedicated pressed the album in a myriad of
different formats. According to them, you can get the album in:
Cassette
Double vinyl (limited
to 2000)
CD
Normal jewel-cased
CD
"Pill box" CD. This
version comes in a cardboard "pill box" based on the packaging for prescription
tablets; the cd pops
out of the plastic
and foil. Dedicated states that the pill box is a "unlimited format".
Limited edition
12 x 3" CD (1000 pressed - 200 with clear plastic backing and 800 with
white.) - similar to the other
limited edition,
but consists of each track on a seperate 3" CD.
"Stay With Me" and "The Individual" originally
appeared on the Let It Flow EPs and appear here in their original mix
The Japanese version adds a Broken Heart
instrumental.
The vinyl version of the album has a different
running order than the CD. The double LP goes:
1a -- Ladies And Gentleman... / Come Together
/ I Think I'm In Love
1b -- All Of My Thoughts / Electricity /
Home Of The brave / The Individual
2a -- Broken Heart / No God Only Religion
/ Stay With Me / Cool Waves
2b -- Cop Shoot Cop
Aside from that, there seem to be no differences.
The Ladies And Gentlemen... title of the
album comes from Jostein Gaarder's book "Sophie's World"
Couple of the lyrics from "Cop Shoot Cop"
("Hey, hey there's a hole in my arm where all the money goes, Jesus Christ
died for
nothing, I suppose.") come from a John Prine
song entitled "Sam Stone."
