Poems

This page is dedicated to the poems we have wrote and read during our grief as we so dearly miss Michelle.  I have found some of these and some have been sent to me.  Some will touch your heart and others won't, but they all will be worth reading. Enjoy.

If you have a poem you would like to add to this collection, yours or another author, please email me, I would love to add it!

If Roses Grow In Heaven

Author Unknown

If roses grow in Heaven,

Lord please pick a bunch for me,

Place them in my daughters arms

and tell her they're from me.

Tell her that I love her and miss her,

and when she turns to smile,

place a kiss upon her cheek

and hold her for awhile.

Because remembering her is easy,

I do it everyday,

but there's an ache within my heart

that will never go away.

~excerpt taken from "LIFE STRATEGIES - DOING WHAT WORKS, DOING WHAT MATTERS" by Phillip C. McGraw Ph.D.

Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.

I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the mornings hush,

I am the swift uplifting rush
of quiet birds in circled flight,
I am the soft stars that shine at night.

Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there, I did not die.

Don't think of her as gone away--
her journey's just begun,
life holds so many facets--
this earth is only one.

Just think of her as resting
from the sorrows and the tears
in a place of comfort
where there are no days and years.

Think how she must be wishing
that we could know today
how nothing but our sadness
can really pass away.

And think of her as living
in the hearts of those she touched...
for nothing loved is ever lost--
and she was loved so much.

Happiness is a butterfly,

 which, when pursued,

is always just beyond your grasp,

but which, if you will sit down quietly,

 may alight upon you.
