Grand Canyon
The Big Hole in the Ground

REU at the CanyonCanyon DeerAs part of the cultural experience that is Arizona, the REU program took us to the Grand Canyon. The sheer vastness of the whole thing just blows me over. I don't think my mind was ment to take this kind of thing in all at once. The hike down is a recomended two day excursion, with a day long hike, camping along the Colorado River, and another day long hike back to the top. Our group only went about 1.5 miles down, which took about an hour both ways. If you go, bring lots of water! The sudden change in elevation is quite the shock to the system. Also, the animals at the Grand Canyon are so use to having humans around that they truly ignore you, unless of course you have food. These deer continued to graze while tourists stood by in amazement.
