Merrill R/C Flyers

Have you always wanted to fly Radio Control Models? Now you can sign up with our Student Introductory Trainers and begin training on a club provided plane to see if this sport is for you. Go to the OFFICERS page (See button at bottom) and contact one of the trainers or come to our monthly meeting on the first Monday of month, held at the Merrill Airport.(See MEETINGS button at bottom of page for more info about meeting schedules.)

R/C Flying has been an enjoyable pastime and hobby for many years in the Merrill area. A group of flyers met in the fall of 1995 and formed the Merrill R/C Flyers Club. They applied for a charter from the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) and were chartered (#3734)on January 1st, 1996. The Merrill R/C Flyers began with 10 members in 1996 and have since grown to 29. In the spring of 1999, the flying field was moved from the Merrill Industrial Park to the Robert and Betty Spears property, (N3964 State Highway 64, Merrill, WI), 1 mile east of Merrill on Highway 64.(See Map)

Membership in the Merrill R/C Flyers is open to all. If you are interested, we invite you to stop by the flying field and attend our meetings with no obligations. Active flyers must become members of the club and of the AMA. The AMA provides liability insurance for the club and for the individual member. Please contact any of the club members for help in getting started in the sport of R/C flying.

Flight training is available from several club members (See Officers Page). The trainers are usually at the field on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. The club also owns a 40 size trainer plane with a "buddy box" system which is used for helping the new pilot in learning how to fly. We invite you to stop out and check out the sport of R/C flying.
