Sophie Carstensen was born on August 31, 1923 in Copenhagen,Denmark.  Her parents were killed by followers of the vampire Gorm when she was young.  Her father Hans left her a danish calvary sword crafted in 1734, which would become her weapon of choice.  She began training with her watcher, Yanna Narvik at age 9.  On August 1, 1939 at the age of 15 Sophie was chosen, following the death of Anni Sonnenblume.  In 1940, she tracked the vampire Gorm while he was in Copenhagen and killed him.  Her darkest days were not too far away.  On May 19, 1940 Spike and Dru infiltrated the Council Headquarters and copied the list of at least 12 named potential slayers around the world.  Sophie was in France at the time.  She got wind of the news and set out to recover as many potentials as she could.  She set sail for America in June.  She collected a young girl named Eleanor from Louisiana on July 13, 1940.  Once they arrived in London with the candidate in tact, they were quickly sent to Mykonos,Greece to retrieve another potential, Valerie Vourtsas who was not mad aware of the danger.  They arrived in Mykonos on August 18, just in time to see the young girl's funeral.  They were too late.  Yanna insisted they return to Copenhagen immediately.  Sophie was told of the young potential who lived in Denmark, but was kept off the list in case something like this were to happen. On September 7,1940, upon arriving at the girls apartment, they saw a vampire had her by the hair, and he ripped her throat out right in front of her.  Angered she rushed off to kill Spike and Dru.  She ran into them both while they were still in Copenhagen.  After a long and grueling fight, Sophie was drained dry of her lifeblood and died. |
