KEMBALI LAGI UNTUK BERITA YANG LAIN PULA!!!

SPR has no credibility

Here I would like to express my resentment and regrets over the Credibility and Transparency of the Suruhanjaya Pilihanraya. Yesterday I called up the SPR hotline (03-2934111) to check which area I would be voting for the coming General Election.

Luckily I managed to get through the hotline after several attempts. At first I was delighted and proud with the quality of work of the person in charge because within a few seconds the information was given. I then took the opportunity to check about my late father's registration - whether SPR aware the voter that had passed away.

My late father, Hj. Ibrahim Bin Hassan died on 16 November 1997 (I.C 3442828) at the age of 60. He was a Johorean and was a regular voter every general election at his hometown, Muar. I found out my late father "can" vote for this general election as his name still exists in the SPR database. I was told by the SPR that my late father would have to vote at Sekolah Rendah Jenis Kebangsaan Cina Chung Hwa 3, Jalan Abd. Rahman, Muar, Johor.

I still remember the day during the last general election in 1995, when my late father and I went to that school together to vote for the opposition! May Allah bless him. I now doubt and have lost confidence about SPR's credibility under the Mahathir regime. This is one of the dirty tricks that the Mahathir regime is playing in order to keep his grip to power.

In Bolehland everything is possible. They will crowd the phantom voters at any voting location. I am puzzled with the action of SPR - on one hand they denied the 680,804 new voters saying there was "no sufficient time in processing the registration" which they claimed takes eight months.

On the other hand they couldn't update and eliminate the data of a person who passed away two years ago! How could we accept such absurd reason when we are talking about information technology, MSC and other valiant projects? I hope my complaint will not fall on deaf ears. This is only one example of blatant lies and injustices practised by SPR.

I am confident there are many 'dead people' who are still eligible to vote for the Barisan Nasional. Let us unite with the Alternative Front. Only with People Power can we avoid such depraved and unjust manner of the inaugural general election before we step to new millennium.
