Icons from Bulgaria, hand made using classical technology.
In year 2002 I have graduated the National Academy of Arts in Sofia, Bulgaria, department of
conservation and restoration. During my studies and after that I paint icons. I would like to present to your
attention some of my works here.
The Bulgarian icons have a history of over a thousand years, both rich and contradictory, but also
most significant as it is closely linked with the destinies of the people.
St. Marina is a copy of an original icon from 16 - 17 century. It is one of the most beautiful works
of the Bulgarian icon painting school from this period. The saint woman is depicted in praying posture with a cross in her
right hand, a simbol of martirdom. The icon fully imitates the architectonics of the iconostasis where it was placed.
