Bio: Jade Felan was born in Andor, a normal child leading a normal life. She had normal parents that cared deeply for her and for each other and a normal older brother who wanted nothing more than to work on their normal farm with his father.
But little boys grew up and their wants changed. Tamron didn't want to work on the farm with his father anymore by the time he had gained his seventeenth year, he wanted to join the army and fight for his country. He left home the next year and was accepted into the army, raising through the ranks quickly. Jade's parents were so proud of their son. He visited every so often, bringing metals of valor he had won and assuring their mother that he was fine, that they were feeding him enough. His promised lived down the street and he would go to visit her, swearing that they would get married the next time he came home.
But he never came home that next time.
The year of her fourteenth naming day they were told that Tamron had died. He had died a hero, they said. He risked his life for his country and his commander. But it didn't help the grief they all felt. They army sent any number of gifts and metal and letters inviting them to court, but nothing was ever accepted. Their country had taken their boy's life.
That same year Jade was out in the woods one day and felt a strange calling. It soon became apparent at she was wolfkin, for her shining green eyes began to change to a striking gold. She would leave the house for long lengths of time and go into the woods, running with her newfound pack. Wind Storm's pack. Like all wolfnames, "Wind Storm" was only a summary of a long name that would be too long to describe. It pictures a heavy snowstorm with a pack of wolves forging through it, unable to find shelter. The leader finds an outcropping and leads the other wolves into its safety. The heavy snow continues outside, blanketing the world in its pristine serenity. The wind howls outside their shelter, sounding like a banshee in the eerie quiet of the snowy world.
Jade was given the wolfname "MoonBlossom" for a flower that opens only when the moon's rays dance upon its silky petals.
She spent a full year roaming with the wolves, only occasionally returning to visit with her parents, before an Aes Sedai discovered her. Her parents knew little of this bond between the wild wolves and their child, but nonetheless determined it to be acceptable since it did not harm the girl.
When she entered a town near her home to purchase some groceries for her mother, an Aes Sedai pointed her out and told her that she had the ability to channel. With a wary "no, thank you" to the Aes Sedai's demand that she go to the Tower of Wyrd, Jade tried to scoot around the lady and her Warder but soon found that she couldn't move a muscle.
The wolves asked her if she wanted help, sent up mournful cries of anger that one of their pack had been taken. One that they still considered a cub. But she refused to let them attack the Aes Sedai. She and her Warder thought it would be interesting to have a wolfkin that could channel in the Tower.
Jade's parents were informed of her ability and they consented to send their daughter off, smiling and reassuring the girl that all would be well.
And so Jade, fifteen years old and one year a wolfkin, was enrolled in the Tower of Wyrd.
