Jadeite was born in Saldaea, the second daughter of the king's brother. She had an easy childhood, getting everything she could possibly want. Her older sister, Beryl, was sweet and loving to her, and helped her whenever possible.
When Jadeite was nine, her mother died. Her father secluded himself, and they never saw him until three years later, the day the Aes Sedai came to court. She came to test the girls to come to the White Tower. Jadeite's father appeared to give the Aes Sedai permission to test all but his second daughter. She, he explained, needed to stay home and take care of him.
Within the week, Beryl and Jadeite's closest friend Mielle had left for Tar Valon. Alone, angry and resentful, Jadeite stayed in Saldaea.
For the next three years, Jadeite turned into a willful, stubborn girl. She was quick to obey, but she reeked disapproval so strongly that people began to lose the nerve to assign her tasks. People she was angry with often had strange accidents. After three years of this, her father died. Jadeite joyfully set out for Tar Valon, convinced that she could channel. She couldn't wait to see Mielle and Beryl!
When she arrived, she was taken to the Amyrlin. Yes, she could channel. Yes, she could be a Novice. Jadeite was overjoyed! During the next few months, Jadeite began her training. She soon grew resentful of Mielle and Beryl. They were already Accepted, and unintentionally lorded over Jadeite. She was the young one, the little one, the weakest one. Three days later Beryl disappeared. Everyone assumed that she ran away, but only Jadeite knew the truth. Beryl was far beneath the tower.
Jadeite was raised quickly. She worked hard and was obedient to a fault. She was strong in the power, and eager to please. None of her teachers could understand why the other Novices and Accepted hated her so much. They thought it was out of jealousy.
Nine years after coming to the Tower, Jadeite was raised to the Grey Ajah. She had already made up her mind what she would do on this day. This would be the day she pledged her soul to the Dark One. Today she would feel the kiss of immortality. Today she would rule the world. All she had to do was kill Lylora, the present head of the Grey Ajah, and the Ajah would be her's to serve the Dark One with. And then he would reward her beyond measure!
Jadeite is 5'7", average height for a Saldaean. She has light brown straight hair, and dark tilted eyes. She is pretty, but her eyes are disconcerting. Her strongest power is Fire, followed by Air, Spirit, Water, and Earth. Her Talents are Cloud Dancing and Dreamwalking. She is black to the core.
