Raine Trueblood
Raine walked along the dusty road on his way to yet another town so that he may perform his arts of trickery and music. Although, his life had a different twist to it than your average everyday gleeman. He had the power of saidin within him. The taint-cursed saidin. Oh, how it would be too nice sometimes to just rid himself of it all. Being a refugee Asha’man from a foreign Tower was not too common around these parts. Light, being a refugee from another world was not common around these parts…but what exactly was common these days. He was an Asha’man of the Brown Ajah, and a staffmaster as well. There had been may o’ times where he could have went against a few Trollocs with his eyes closed, as long as he had his quarterstaff in hand. His quarterstaff was almost like a part of him. He could sense where it was, no matter the distance. It was made from the metals of the earth which he forged together with the taint-infested saidin using the power of Fire, Air, and Spirit. Raine was a man from many places, and a man of many faces. A master of disguise, and a trickster of the trade. With an Illumniator’s background, who could stand against him. He had skills that many others had only dreamed of. But it all came down to one thing…the cursed Power. The One Power began the life of him, and sooner or later it would become the death of him. There were many times where Raine had considered just drawing as much of the Source as he could and just holding it until he burned out, but then there were many things that had stopped him in his tracks from doing so. Raine Trueblood had a hard life. One that not even he could wish upon his worst enemy. And now he was stuck in this world that he wasn’t familiar with, doing the same thing that he had done in his own world. Ah yes, being a gleeman wasn’t all that it seemed cut out to be.
After a few hours of walking, Raine stopped to sit by a stream that flowed by the road. He kneeled down to sip some water, when he heard a crack behind him. He wove a flow of Air, bringing his quarterstaff to him, and with the Power, he made the ends of his staff open up, revealing spikes on opposite ends. He turned to the intruder and held the staff out in front of him. “Who are you, and what business do you have in sneaking up behind a gleeman such as myself? Speak NOW!” The man backed up a few paces, and cleared his throat. “I am from a place called the Mirror of Mists. It is a place designed to help channelers learn the ways of controlling their power. Although, it does seem as though you know how to use yours quite well already. May I be so brave as to ask your name?” Raine looked into the man’s eyes the entire time that he spoke. He mentally marked the guy down as semi-trustworthy. “My name is Raine Trueblood. And you’re right, I don’t need to learn how to control my power. I have complete & utter control. Although, maybe I could teach some of your kiddies how to channel. I could also be of some assistance as an entertainer. It might even do you some good if I teach you the ways of stealth, young man. I be thinking on your offer though. You tell me where this Mirror of Mists be. I may just have to stop by one of these days.”
