PFC Conrad Cecil Mason was born December 3, 1912. He was raised in the area of Cameron, West Virginia.

PFC Mason was a member of the 29th Field Artillery Battalion, killed in action during the June 6, 1944 Invasion of Normandy, when his LCT hit a mine and sank during the landing at Utah Beach. He was among those 50 men killed, mostly from B Battery, 29th Field Artillery, many of whom were never recovered.

He was married, and left behind a loving son and daughter who never truly knew him, but loved and honored him throughout their lives.

The Garden of the Missing Memorial photograph, and the "rubbing" were provided by Abby Shields. Her great-uncle, Tom Shields, was the Commander of A Company, 22nd Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Division, WW2. For his heroism on D+1, he was posthumously awarded the Distinguished Service Cross!
