How Can We Thank Him
"O give thanks unto the Lord",
the psalmist cried, "for He is good",
His goodness mortal man has never understood.
Such power, such mercy, a love so great.
Is beyond our capacity to appreciate.
Words are inadequate to express
Our gratitude for His blessedness.
Our noblest deeds cannot convey
Our thanks for the price He had to pay.
Casting all our possessions,
even ourselves before His throne
Would but return to Him that which is His own.
But on virtue we inherit from our Father above
Is our ability to love.
Our thanks we cannot express by words,
or deeds or gifts,
Only by Love.
