The Punjab meaning "Land of Five Rivers", is the second largest province of Pakistan. It is the richest, most fertile and most heavily populated province of Pakistan. Lahore- the Provincial Capital, Multan, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Wazirabad, Sargodha, Faisalabad and Bhawalpur are few of the attractive cities of the country.
The province of Punjab shares its boundries with NWFP in the north-west, Balochistan in the west, Sind in the South and India on the East. The province's name literally means "five-rivers". Namely, Indus, Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi and Sutlej are the five rivers. The best time to visit northern Punjab is in the spring, from February to April, and in the autumn, from September to November. Southern Punjab is extremely hot in summer, so Multan is at its best in winter, from November to February. Punjab, like Sindh, is full of historical and archaelogical sites. Lahore and Multan themselves offer rich historical and cultural attractions along with treasures of archaelogical sites.
