Checkin the Drums
since i'm going to college soon, me and my dad figured it would be a good time to replace a lot of the parts that would generally get worn and put to good use. and since i'm going to be driving it everyday, we had to prepare it for abuse. =D that meant inspection of the brakes. last summer we replaced the brake pads up front so they're still good, but my dad overlooked the drums in the back. such neglegence... so here's a couple pics of the job.
here's a simple trick everybody knows, screw in two bolts into the holes and the drum just pops right off.
here's the leftside assembly of the rear suspension, very simple layout
here's an angled view of what it looks like with the drum removed
here's what it looks like from the rear
this is a close up
they say the best way to clean the brakes is with compressed air, but we didnt have compressed air, so we used the next best thing, a garden hose!
this is what the right side looks like
here's a close-up with the drum off
replacing the drum is very simple, just slide it back on

we also thought it was a good idea to rotate the tires. since the rear end was already up we were too lazy to lower the car, move the jack to the front, and raise the front end. then i had the brilliant idea of using the sparetire jack. only we couldn't find it.
found it!
its a very simple mechanism. also a a pain in the ass to raise...
well there you have it, job well done i'd say...
