the Quantum

This car was originally my aunt's car. Its whereabouts originate in Cambridge, Massachusetts. She took pretty good care of it, took it to a trusted mechanic whenver things went awry. he basically knew the ins and outs of this car since his wife too has a Quantum of the same vintage. she only racked up about 47000 miles on it since she bought the car. thats pretty good for a then 15 year old car. it was in pretty good shape up until 2 years ago, when my other aunt who lives in Brooklyn needed a car because her Corolla was all sorts of fuct up. This was when everything shot to hell. this was when the poor old Quantum started to show her age. unbeknownst to my aunt, she was driving it one day without a drop of oil in the crank case, or anywhere in the block for that matter. Where'd the oil go? i think where didn't it go is the proper question to ask. so she took it to Lau's where it would have a second chance at life. new shocks, new radiator, a tune up. now she started running good for a change. the Quantum served her well up until my aunt decided that she would need a proper car for all the roadtrips she takes. She bought a practically brand new 2001 Honda CR-V off eBay off this guy in Boston. So where's the Quantum now? in the good hands of my dad, who has been without a proper ride since i started driving his Civic to school. Now he's determined to fix everything that's been wrong with the Quantum. From god awful braking control, obnoxiously loud fuel pump, bad exhaust, to a decent fucking stereo. Now she's got a half decent exhaust, thanks to Meineke. Now it makes decent gas mileage and can hit 90 like nothing. i can vouch, my dad's a maniac behind the wheel. This car is so rare that most mechanics don't even have shop manuals for it. So if you ever come across another Quantum, let me know so i can photograph it just to proove that Volkswagen AG actually made more than one Quantum.
