THE REZ

I AM PROUD OF MY RESERVATION. MY LIFE IS HERE. TO ME THE REZ REPRESENTS MY CULTURE, MY PAST, AND MY FUTURE. THE RESERVATION IS A PLACE OF NATURAL BEAUTY FROM ITÕS ROLLING SAND DUNES TO ITÕS MAGNIFIGANT ROCK MONUMENTS. HOWEVER, WE, NATIVE AMERICANS DO NOT ORGINATE FROM THIS PLACE. I KNOW THE HISTORY OF HOW THE GOVERNMENT FORCED MY PEOPLE TO MOVE FROM THEIR HOMELANDS TO A DESERT. AT FIRST I USED TO BLAME THE WHITE MEN FOR WHAT THEY DID TO MY PEOPLE, BUT I CAME TO REALIZE IT WAS NOT ALL WHITE MEN WHO THOUGHT IT RIGHT TO MOVE A GROUP OF PEOPLE FROM THEIR ORIGINAL HOMELAND. ONLY A SELECT GROUP OF HEARTLESS SAVAGES DID THIS. I LABEL THESE MEN SAVAGES BECAUSE OF WHAT THEY DID. IN THE PAST, EARLY SETTLERS WERE APPALLED AT THE SIGHT OF NATIVES, CALLING THEM SAVAGES FOR THE WAY WE LOOKED AND ACTED. SURE WE HUNTED FOR OUR FOOD AND SO DID THE WHITE MAN. SURE WE GREW PLANTS FROM THE LAND AND SO DID THE WHITE MAN.SO WHO WAS THE SAVAGE?

IT WAS THE WHITE MAN. IT WAS THE WHITE MAN FOR THE BRUTAL TREATMENT THEY UNLEASHED ON MY PEOPLE HERDING THEM TO LAND THE GOVERNMENT SAYS THEY ŌGAVEÕ TO US. THE SUFFERING YOUNG CHILDREN AND ELDERS WENT THROUGH CARRYING WHAT THEY COULD BRAVING THE COLD, THE DISEASES, AND THE FAMINE.
