Operasyon Bosyo at Kanser sa Suso*

    Under the umbrella of Operasyon Pinoy are Operasyon Bosyo and Operasyon Kanser sa Suso which provides safe, efficient and quality operation with surgical care to indigent patients with thyroid and breast problems.
   

    Patients with thyroid problem commonly seen and evaluated for have swelling on the front of their necks. The Department of Surgery recommends that once you suspect an enlargement or neck mass, seek medical attention. Though we are in the line of surgery at OMMC we do not always operate but provide other treatment options whatever is the best for the patients & conditions.
   

    Breast cancer is the number one cancer killer among women worldwide including the Philippines. All women are at risk either poor or rich. Mass in the breast secondary to cancer is usually hard in presentation, accompanied by lymph node enlargement on the axilla of same side. Other clues are: rapid growth of the mass, skin dimpling and ulcerations, as well as nipple discharge. Those who have 1st and 2nd degree relatives with breast cancer have an increased risk of developing the same condition. We advise the public to seek consultation once they have the above mentioned problems.

    Starting August 01, 2007, the Department of Surgery will conduct Operasyon Bosyo and Operasyon Kanser sa Suso. Screenings will be held at the Surgery Out-Patient Complex of OMMC from Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm and at the Emergency Room for Saturdays and Sundays from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. The public may approach any surgical residents for assistance.
