Put the fish in!
Filter Bucket
  • Poke about 25 holes in the bottom of bucket
  • Place a sponge pad over the holes
  • Place a 5 inch layer of bio-balls above the sponge pad
  • Plance another sponge pad over the bio balls
  • Place 2 large bags of Media (Activated Carbon)
  • Place another sponge pad over the Media
  • Place a 6 inch layer of filter padding (white cotton)
  • Plance another sponge pad over the filter area
  • Cut out a "U" shaped wedge at the top of bucket. Use this to wedge in your hoses and hold them in place.
  • Hang your Media Bucket close enough to water, but away from side to prevent splashing over sides
  • Bucket should hang about 8 inches from the water surface to avoid splashing

UV Sterilizer - A MUST HAVE
  • Using 1 inch tubing, connect hose to UV Sterilizer
  • Place a submersible pump at end one end of pond and connect to UV Sterilizer with 1 inch tubing
  • Connect hose from UV to bucket by wedging, or using tie-rods

Media Bucket - Pump
  • Place a submersible pump at end of pond (opposite UV pump)
  • Using 1-inch hose, run a line from the pump up to the bucket
  • Using a separate pump creates a unique flow for the bucket, and allows for the UV to operate on its own timeframe

Lighting
  • Make sure strip lights can be hung using plastic tie rods
  • Use either small chain or plastic tie's to hang lights
  • Use Zoo-Med Bulbs or other similar brands

Run your pond for 48 hours before putting in any fish!
