Famous for their alliance with Helios as opposed to
Luna, the Corax are the Changing Breed the Garou have the most familiarity
with. Sharing a history that extends back into the First Times, this
alliance was strained, although not broken, during the ancient War of
Rage. As a testimony to how well Garou and Corax have worked together in
the past, even humans have observed the relationship between wolf and
raven that constitute some of their earliest tales. However, not all the
Garou share the same relationship with the Corax. Traditionally, five
tribes above all others consort with Corax regularly - the Fianna, Get of
Fenris, Red Talons, Shadow Lords and Wendigo. Despite this, the Garou
cannot claim to know as much about the Corax as the Corax know about them.
The Corax consider themselves Gaia's messengers. They
are masters at seeking out lost lore and ferreting out secrets that should
stay hidden. Unlike the Bastet, however, they tend not to keep such
knowledge to themselves. Almost compulsively out-spoken, Corax delight as
much in revealing secrets as in finding them out in the first place and
thus make useful scouts and informants for the Garou Nation. However,
their aid does not come without a price, and many Garou wonder just how
much of their own secrets the Corax pass on to other Changing Breeds. The
Corax have never quite lived down the reputation they earned in the War of
Rage for helping out all sides of the War, instead of just allying
themselves with the Garou. But while the Garou are suspicious of this, the
Corax are far to useful to turn on. Unlike the other Changing Breeds, the
Corax never cut themselves off from the Garou and their actions constantly
remind the Garou that without the Corax, their fight against the Wyrm, and
Black Spiral Dancers, in particular, would be going very much worse than
it is at present. The Corax for their part, need the Garou themselves.
Corax are not warriors and, while extremely adept at discovering the
secrets needed to fight their enemies, they don't have any abilities to
follow through on them, except to motive other Changing Breeds better
suited for such physical and tactical acts. Invariably, the Corax agree
the Garou are perfectly adapted to be their foot soldiers in this war. As children of Helios instead of Luna, Corax are not
as active by night as are Garou - either in the physical world, or the
Umbral one. Their ability to fly gives them a unique perspective on life
that the Garou cannot understand, and they also have a far greater
knowledge of the spirit worlds than do even Theurges.
