What is L.A.R.P.?

LARP is the acronym for Live-Action Role Play. 

Therefore a LARPer is one who runs around in costume relying on wits and skill to 

accomplish seemingly impossible tasks such as slaying every evil, horrible, despicable being, 

so as to save the world from certain doom! 

LARPing is when the LARPer is running hither & yon, hoping beyond hope to simply survive the battle at hand; "Those who fight then run away, live to fight (and save the world, perhaps...) another day!" or so it's said! 
LARPs are safe, fun and creative. Each LARP is different even within the same genre. There are the Werewolf, Vampire and Changeling types; Medieval and/or Fantasy types; and Modern Times and Futuristic types!

In any good game, the emphasis is always on safety first; Above all else!!! 
The weapons are constructed in such a fashion that nobody should get hurt; Though each game may have their own guidelines on crafting and usage! 
It is each player's responsibility to keep their eyes open for any dangerous conditions while "in game", and to take appropriate steps to ensure safety! 

Drugs & alcohol are forbidden in most games; and smoking usually curbed! 
Most of the LARPs are considered a "Family Game", so even swearing may not be acceptable forms of expression. After all, LARPing is about having fun, and in most cases the players are heroic types, not nasty villains!

Attitude - Costume - Honesty - Imagination - Staying "In-Game"
