The Cathedral was restored by Archbishop Robinson in 1765 and again by by Archbishop
Beresford between 1834 and 1837, it was faced with a cladding of sandstone and
its steeple demolished. As you can see it is now a plain building in the
perpendular Gothic style with a squat crenellated central tower.
