Belfast Castle-1
Cavehill
A friendly welcome displayed just beyond the entrance gates of the Castle
South Facing Side
On the slopes of the
Cavehill,400 ft above sea level, stands this beautiful sandstone Castle.
John Lanyon designed the castle, following the Scottish Baronial style which
was also used earlier to construct the Balmoral castle ( Mainland UK) in 1853.
This building was completed in 1870.
Decorated
around the doorway by ornamental cannons and bollards, giving the entrance to
the Castle very protective and formal appearance.
The cellars have been transformed allowing the minds of visitors to drift back
into Victorian times, having antiquities, paved streets, gas lights, etc.
Belfast Castle is an ideal centre for functions, conferences, exhibitions,
or for a special dining out occasion.
