Scrabo Tower
The Scrabo Tower ( 41m) was erected as a memorial to
Charles William Stewart the 3rd Marquis of Londonderry, in recognition of
his concern for the plight of his tenants during great potato famine.
The front face section of Scrabo Tower faces in a north-west direction, looking away from Strangford Lough coastline.
A close-up of the towers entrance.
This time a photo of the eastern side. A full view of the tower is visible from the town of Newtownards. This photo was taken beside the little winding road that leads up to the tower. As you can see a little hilly area obstructs the view of the towers middle and base sections but creates a beautiful scenic surrounding.
Another photo of the tower and surrounding countryside, taken from the Comber road on a fine day in October 2003
