Do I apply for a specific course or
can I choose my area after admission?
You apply for a specific programme in which you choose your discipline through your
choice of study centres. The choice of further specialization is restricted to those offered at a particular
centre which will be awarded on merit cum choice at the end of
the foundation year.
I think I may need a financial assistance.
Are there avenues available in terms of loans and scholarships?
Scholarships
are available on merit cum means basis. For further details
you have to contact Head, Academic Affairs at NIFT, New Delhi
after admission.
What about Placements?
NIFT facilitates campus placements in all streams.
What degree/title will I get after
completion of the course?
NIFT
offers diploma for its 4 years / 2 years programmes which is well accepted and
respected nationally
and internationally. The course content and duration of 4 year undergraduate/2
years postgraduate programmes are at par with bachelor/Master Degree courses
of any professional education
programme. Students on successful completion of UG/PG programme
shall be eligible
to receive NIFT Graduate/PG Diploma. There is, however a proposal
of NIFT under active consideration
of Government of India to obtain the status of Deemed to be University under
the provision
of UGC Act. In the event of this status, all the students being admitted under
4 year UG /2
year PG programme shall be eligible to receive a Bachelor/Master Degree in Design/Technology/Management.
Is there any age bar?
NIFT has no age bar for any of the programmes.
What NIFT offers NRIs/Foreign Nationals?
Five
percent (5%) of total seat in each programme is supernumerary
for NRI/NRI Sponsored/SAARC/Foreign nationals subject to their
meeting the prescribed eligibility conditions and qualifying
the entrance examination . Candidates
appearing for their Qualifying examination can also apply.
Proof of the candidates having successfully passed the
qualifying examination will have to be produced at the time of joining the programme. The
applications of such candidates should be routed through the Indian Embassy/Mission
in the respective countries as per detailed guidelines sent to them.
However, candidates selected through this channel will be required to pay US$6500
as tuition fee for each
academic year consisting of two semesters. The candidate must hold a
passport of a country other than India or parents/guardians must be taxpayers
in a country other than India. The
written examination of such candidates is normally conducted in
the premises of the Indian Embassy/Mission of the respective country. However,
the subsequent tests will
be held at any of the NIFT centres.
Where do I submit the application forms?
Admission
form complete in all respects should be sent to Post Box No.4587,
Hauz Khas Post Office, New Delhi-110016 on or before 15 th
December, 2003 by ordinary post under cover super subscribed “NIFT
Admission Form for Admission - 2004” with a Demand Draft of
Rs.900/- (Rs.500/- for SC/ST/PHP) drawn in favour of NIFT,
New Delhi payable at New Delhi. One self addressed and self-stamped
postcard by affixing postage stamp of Rs.6/- should also be
enclosed with the admission form.
All
eligible candidates should receive their admit
cards by the end of January, 2004. In case of delay,
the candidates are advised to immediately contact/correspond
with Admission Cell, NIFT, New Delhi, at least one week before
the date the examination with a photocopy of the submitted
admission form and two attested passport of the submitted admission
form and two attested passport size photograph.
