    trivia

I'm hoping to find some people who consider themselves OC serious trivia buffs on this show. As a sample tidbit, which I consider rather easy, name 15 celebrities that appeared on the show AS THEMSELVES. This rules out Roy Clark, who played Wild Willie Boggs, or Penny Marshall and Rob Reiner.

Jaclyn, Is it possible you could set up a section of this site devoted to trading of trivia questions and quizzes? Thanks, in advance.

    inconsistencies

    1) a minor inconsistency - when Gloria was pregnant with their first child, she and Felix stayed at Oscar's apartment, which was the new apartment seen in the later episodes.(Remember, Felix found the note in the gorilla.) But, when Felix was later thrown out, he went to stay with Oscar in the old apartment, which was supposed to precede the newer apartment. Then it switched back to the new apartment.
    2) The same actor played different roles in different episodes This happened several times. I don't know the official names of the episodes. The same actor played Brother Ralph at the Brotherhood of Life Mission, the officer when Felix and Oscar were in jail after Murray arrested them for gambling ("what's your name, con?"), and the minister/fire chief who performed the wedding ceremony of Blanche and Roger Doctor.(We'll get started just as soon as I take off by big, yellow hat.") Also, another actor played 2 roles in different episodes. The man who Oscar won the ra

    inconsistencies - continued

continued - The man who Oscar won the racing dog, Golden Earrings from, was Salty Pepper. This man also played Al Cattleman, the man in Felix's creative writing class who was writing a book that was going to blow the lid off the upholstery business(This old man is currently on Ally McBeal). Also, a man who played the judge in the episode where Murray arrests them also played Dr. Gordon in the episode where Oscar is in the hospital for an ulcer. Also, John Byner appears in the Fat-Away episode and as the parking garage attendant when they win the car.
    3) their addresses - I may not be correct on this one, but the green awning in some external camera shots says "1049", and I believe Felix once mentioned that they live at 1049 Park Avenue. But in the parking garage scene, John Byner asks them where they live and Felix says, "74th and Central Park West".
Finally , this is not an inconsistency - but a quiz what little known actor appeared on the Odd C

    even more inconsistencies

the other time that a reference was made to their apartment was in the "Lovelace" episode, when Felix pointed up and referred to their neighbor, "Jock McDonough, 16th floor", so we know that they lived below 16.
One more - On one occasion, when Oscar had Felix one the witness stand Felix said that his nickname as a child was "Felix the pest". But, in the Deacon Jones episode, after Oscar told Felix not to approach Jones, Felix said, "There's no one I can't talk to. Even as a child they called me the firendly one".

    another inconsistency

in the Golden Earrings episode, Oscar says something that is one of my favorite trivia questions, because nobody ever gets it. When choosing a color for the dog to wear in the race, Felix says that the dog hates blue. Oscar says, "Are you kidding?. The rug in my room is BLUE!', because the dog kept going to Oscar's room to relieve himself. But, I don't believe there has ever been a scene in Oscar's room where it had a blue rug.

    Trivia

    Owen,
About trading trivia questions - feel free to continue using the Odd Couple Message board - I think it is probably the best forum for that, so I don't think I'd need to set up a separate page.

As for your trivia question - Reni Santoni played Ernie the Eskimo football player on the Odd Couple, and later had a recurring role as Poppie on Seinfeld - the Italian restaurant owner who went to the bathroom without washing his hands (and then made a pizza) and then had an "accident" on Jerry's new white couch.

Jaclyn, I was just curious about your sources for all your information. Are you doing all the research yourself? If so, you've really put a lot of work into it. Great job!
More trivia - in the Ernie the Eskimo episode, what did it say on the sweatshirt that Ernie was wearing, what was the name of the man who came to offer him a music scholarship, and what school was the man from? (I hope that people are trying to get these questions on their own and not looking them up and pretending they know them.)

Hey, this is a great site! I found it through Yahoo; I was looking to find when the OC was on TV. BTW, Comedy Central has moved the show to 2pm weekdays and 9 & 9:30am on Sundays.

Tell us a little about the creator of this site! Who are you and how did you get into the Odd Couple Web Site?

To Owen: the guy who played Brother Ralph, the preacher, a judge etc. is one of the great character actors of that time period, along with the patients from the Bob Newhart Show. These are the people who deserve an emmy in my opinion!

    Editting of Syndicated Episodes

    I was just thinking....

Does anyone have any idea how the episodes have been edited? I know that there are scenes missing from some episodes. When I watched them as a kid there were scenes that are now cut out.

For instance, the Costume Party episode, when Felix is in the Dumbwaiter and he goes to Phillip's (the blond kid with glasses) apartment and he Phillip is dressed as a mad scientest, making a batch of potion in test tubes. He drinks the potion and becomes a Mr. Hyde character and tries to attack Felix. Maybe many people don't even know of this scene because, it and many other small scenes were cut out.

    Comments?

Enjoy your site, Missing scenes and Trivia

First of all, THANK YOU for creating a Great web site. I have many friends that I must inform who absolutely Love the Odd Couple and would Love your web site.

As far as Ted's comment about editing the shows, there is definitely a difference between shows. It depends on the time it was shown. Prime time has more commericals than at 2am. I have all 114 shows on tape as well as some duplicate tapes. There are many instances where the same show has scenes left out. Too many commericals!

I would Love to get the uncut versions if anyone knows where to get them!

As for a bit of Trivia:

What was the first and last episode to air?
    Who is yawbus?
    What color is Felix's robe?
What was the name of Felix's childhood teddy bear?
In the episode where the air conditioner is haunted, how much did the book "How to Exorcise at Home" cost?
How expensive was the sandwich Oscar made during the blackout at the poker game?
    In the episode where Osca

Thanks for the great tribute to one of the best shows of all time. I can not understand how the show was not retained by Nick at Nite. The show should be out on home video.
