During spring semester 2000, Theta Nu Xi Multicultural Sorority, Inc. sought to establish a new
chapter at Georgia State University. The idea of establishing a new chapter caught the interest of Becky Gonzalez after an initial interest meeting, Becky found that the Sorority's philosophies mirrored her own. However,
the idea for a new chapter was put on hold due to the lack of interest from other students. After much time and anticipation,
another interest meeting was held the following semester. Here, Becky met several more women who shared her interest, one
of those women was Leticia Simmons.
Leticia had recently transferred from California State University at Los Angeles to
GSU and was looking to meet new people. During her first semester at GSU, she discovered a flier for the recruitment of new
members of Theta Nu Xi. As she learned more about the organization, she realized that it was exactly what she sought. Leticia
found that she shared a common interest with the ideals of Theta Nu Xi. Seeing their dedication and motivation, Theta Nu Xi
selected Becky and Leticia to continue the expansion process at GSU. Together, Leticia and Becky united to make history both
within Theta Nu Xi and at GSU, as chapter founders. Thus, the birth of the Zeta Chapter on December 10, 2000; the ONE and
only.
