The rakeback kid.
Topic: Poker

Here's an interesting feature about Mark Goodwin:

http://www.totalgambler.com/pokertips/skillsandstrategy/1706/turning_poker_pro.html

The money quote:

"His figures show that he’s made $180,000 from tournament winnings this year – but his entry fees and expenses total $182,000! Without the sponsorship deal paying his entry into events he would be breaking even – and he’s currently sixth in the European rankings!"

I have to say that this 'business model' reminds me of those online players who break even in the games and only make money because they have a rakeback deal.

However the lifestyle side of it is a lot better!

David,

Why do you think the lifestyle is a lot better? Maybe it is just me but I kind of like having a routine. I suppose that I have a problem with discipline. If I have no commitments I tend to lead a life where I go to bed at 6am and get up at 3pm, even though I hate this cycle. I do not even eat properly. If I am in a routine I get to wake up early, work, study and maybe exercise, while playing poker in the evening or doing other things etc. I suppose my bad discipline manifests itself in the cash games. I get bored with them. This is why I am mainly sticking to tournaments from now on ( I am a tournament player after all).

I suppose that having a routine is better for some of us. I guess sometimes I am otherwise just to lazy to get things done. I will try to change though.
