POSITION DESIRED:
I desire a position in which I can coordinate and follow through on projects, by working with fellow employees and customers to promote and improve an organization's products and services.
EXPERIENCES:
MAY 1984 TO March 2006: I held various positions at the American Cooperative School (ACS): Director of the American Cooperative School's Community Education Program; the responsibilities includes the coordinating of after school courses and events that require school facilities, setting course cost and teacher salaries, scheduling class activities and times. I have taught computer familiarization and applications classes and English as a second language in this program. Other aspects of this position are working with students, teachers, parents and members of the community in planning events such as plays, dances, fund raisers, etc.
I have been a substitute, summer, and night school teacher, and tutor for elementary, middle, and high school students. I was the ACT and SAT testing coordinator at A.C.S.
Manager of the Herm Penland Sports Complex; A school facility that was a club after school hours. The duties included; supervise an assistant manger, lifeguards, gate entry, and janitorial people. The scheduling of work hours and training times, testing of the swimming pool water for chlorine, pH, alkalinity, and muriatic acid levels for the comfort and safety of the club members and students. I had to inspect and insure the proper operation of the gas boiler heating systems, weight room equipment for damage or worn parts, and order supplies and repairs to the pool building, tennis and racquetball courts, and deal with members' problems and complaints.
Maintenance / Facilities Supervisor for A.C.S., ; maintaining the heating and electrical equipment, and major building repairs and ordering supplies. I act as consultant to the Director of A.C.S. for school facility's improvement. A solar heating system has been added to the pool in 1993. I have made several modifications to the drinking and water storage system, pool and sports complex, sound and lighting systems were improved in the auditorium. The electrical design of the new gym, the new library /auditorium, the theater and band rooms and upgrading the schools electrical distribution and transformers, which saved the school $16,000 over a contractors price, are my design. When the theater building was constructed I removed or redesigned items that were inappropriate and added items that were needed. The result was 141,000 dollars made available to purchase items not included in the contract.
FEBRUARY 1985 to SEPTEMBER 1985: Director of the TEEN Center La Paz Bolivia. I supervised and planned actives and fund raising events for the teenagers to help support the Teen Center. My managerial activities were buying supplies and snack items, paying salaries, and utilities, and writing reports to the Mental Health Board of the U.S. Embassy in La Paz, which was the sponsor of the Center. I acted as an adviser to the teens on various topics and planned lectures on several social issues.
DECEMBER 1983 to MAY 1984: Unemployed and looking for work in La Paz.
NOVEMBER 1981 to DECEMBER 1983: Programming Specialist with IBM's Data Base Recovery Control (DBRC) Team. I had the responsibility for responding to customer request for diagnoses of software problems. This was accomplished by telephone, talking the customer through console logs and print out of storage at the time of the problem. If the solution was known I informed the customer on which program maintenance tape it was on, or sent it to him. If the problem was new, I then created a request for a solution to the problem. I maintained customer problem records and updated them with follow up as to the results of suggested maintenance. I also answered questions about installing and using the DBRC product.

APRIL 1978 to DECEMBER 1983: I served in the California Air National Guard as a computer operator on a Honeywell 723G computer. I wrote an operators workbook covering the execution of twenty plus programs and computer operations for the retrieval of program products output and data input for the various shops and users in the Guard. I held a secret security clearance with the California Air National Guard 129th ARRS, Moffet Field, California.
JANUARY 1968 to NOVEMBER 1981: Advanced Products Customer Engineer with IBM in the Office Products Customer Service Division in the U.S.A. and Bolivia. I serviced IBM's office products; word processors, graphics systems, copiers, and typewriters, and instructed users in their use and applications. I trained and assisted less experienced customer engineers in repairing equipment and customer relations. The selling of service agreements, informing marketing of potential sales prospects, and keeping management informed of territory operations via time and parts usage reports were part of my work. I earned 13 suggestion awards in this time.
SEPTEMBER 1967 to JANUARY 1968 : Electronic technician for National Geographic Society's Custom Equipment Shop. We designed and built small electrical and mechanical projects for the Society. At this time I learned to operate lathes and milling machines, working with metals and plastics.
JUNE 1966 to SEPTEMBER 1967: I started as an instructor trainee with Reliance Electric Corporation to teach customers how to maintain the products Reliance sold. Later as a system engineering technician, working with engineers in design of process control drive systems, writing engineering descriptions for the systems, and verify the cost of manufacturing versus the as sold price to insure a profit.
OCTOBER 1958 to MAY 1966: U.S. Navy, My duties included operation, maintenance and scheduling of training time on flight simulators, maintenance of closed circuit TV, motion and slide projection, and audio equipment. From 1964 to 1966 I was the administrative assistant to the Training Aids Officer at the Navy's Explosive Ordnance Disposal School. I created and maintained files on the status and location of training aids and devices for the school. While I was in Alaska, 1962 to 1963 I was a flight orderly (load master), and air terminal crew chief, responsible for passengers and cargo on U.S. Navy flights, and part of the maintenance team for the Armed Forces Radio and TV Station at Kodiak Alaska. I had a top secret security clearance.
