Star
I have attached a picture of our "first" official rescue from the Middleburgh Auction, Star.
He is a 3 year old Arab that was in the kill pen. I have papers on him and am hopefully going to be able to find out a bit more about him.
My six year old daughter spied him when we were walking by and went right up to him and was giving him carrots, hugs and kisses. She insisted on taking him home, so the people that went along with me offered to take him home with them and keep him at their place for the quarantine time. You would have been so proud of her - she took pictures with her to school today so she can tell them all about her rescue.
I was bidding against a familiar looking killer buyer, and when he turned around to see who was bidding
against him, he stopped. Maybe he had a warm surge in his heart for just a second when he saw my daughter clinging to me with tears in her eyes because she wanted this horse so badly.
So far, things are going great between the two of them - it is amazing how attached each has become to the other. She goes right up to him in the turnout and he walks right over to her and just starts nuzzling her. It's like he knows she saved him.
I'll keep you posted on how we make out with him!
