ROUNDUP

Even though summer is still here, school will begin in about two weeks and our Pack will begin its 2000-2001 season. We have so many fun events planned for our boys such as a Bon Fire, Zoo Sleep over, Bike Rally, Family Campout, Ski Trip and much, much more. We invite all parents and boys from 1st to 5th grade who are interested in joining our pack to attend our annual Roundup to be held in the Goshen Elementary Cafeteria, August 22 at 6:30 pm. If you are a returning scout, we will streamline the application process by allowing you to complete your paperwork through your den leader. The paperwork must be filled out with payment attached and returned to your den leader by the first pack meeting in August. (Awards will be held until your child’s application has been processed and fees paid.) Please see your den leader for more information about applications. If you prefer, returning scouts and parents may still attend Round-up on August 22. All the leaders and committee members will be there, as well as a few scouts to answer any questions you may have.

PACK MEETING

Our first pack meeting of the year will be held Monday, August 28 at 7pm in the St. John UMC Gym. Our Pack meetings are traditionally held on the last Monday of every month, but be sure to always check your newsletter for exact dates and places. Remember, beginning with the first pack meeting, your scout is eligible to earn the Perfect Attendance Award that is awarded to scouts that attend every pack meeting. Den Leaders will also be holding random uniform inspections. This year, by popular demand, we will be moving our meetings to the gym. In order for pack meetings to start promptly at 7:00, dens are assigned to set-up/take-down and flag ceremony, skit, or display and greeting. These assignments will always be noted in the newsletter. If your den is assigned to set-up/take down/flag, you must arrive at St. John no later than 6:15. When you arrive- go directly to the gym and start setting up chairs and placing the den flags in the appropriate place. Your den will also be responsible for the Flag Ceremony. Be sure to practice the Flag Ceremony in your den meetings so you will be ready to start promptly at 7:00!! Skits are also a lot of fun for the boys and we will continue to have a skit during each meeting. If your assignment is for Greeters and display, your den is responsible for any handouts at the door, and you will have a display table to show completed projects by your den. Your den should arrive at 6:30. All in all, it takes the cooperation of many dens, leaders and committee members to hold a fun and rewarding pack meeting each month. If you have any suggestions or questions about pack meetings please call Bill Clarke, Cubmaster or Mimi Stevenson, Committee Chairperson.

NEWSLETTER

To keep the pack meetings as short as possible, many announcements will only be made in the newsletter. It is very important that each family receive a newsletter, so we will continue to pass out newsletters at each pack meeting. The newsletter has an address label for each scout family. If a scout does not attend the pack meeting, the newsletter will be mailed to him the next day. Every month, we will publish articles by a den, and scouts from that den are encouraged to write an article about something of interest to other scouts or a commentary on a recent or upcoming scouting event. These articles are due to the Newsletter chair no later than the 15th of each month. If you have any questions regarding the newsletter, call Mimi Stevenson.
