The theme for this year is ¡°Turn Back the Clock¡±. The highlight of the day will be when we award our 2nd year Webelos the Arrow of Light and then crossover into Boy Scouts. If you have any questions, please call Mimi Stevenson -228-9677. Listed below are the Cub Scouts we will be honoring this year:
Chase Bergklint
Jared Bottom

Please join us in honoring our cub scouts on this special day. We also take this opportunity to thank the leaders of this den. Debbie Schuette, Robin Wuetcher and Jim Bottom have been extraordinary leaders in Den 1 as well as our Pack. Their committment and dedication is deeply appreciated and will be missed. Debbie Schuette will continue her committment to our Pack as Advancments Chair. THANK YOU!!!!

Setup for Blue & Gold

Saturday, February 5, from 6PM- 9PM, we will set up the gym for the banquet. We need many parents to help out. If you haven¡¯t helped with an event this year - this is your opportunity to show your scouting spirit.

PINEWOOD DERBY & CLINIC

Our Derby plans are up and running thanks to Tom Schuette!!! If you are new to Pinewood Derby Racing, this event involves each scout building their own car (to the extent this is possible) using the Boy Scout official car kit (given out at the December pack meeting) and Pack 154 instructions - (See attached flyer). Make sure you only use pack 154 instructions. If any others were included in your kit, please disregard or you may be disqualified. We will hold a Pinewood Derby Clinic on Saturday, February 26 from 9am- Noon. During this clinic, there will be power tools available to shape your car. Please have your design ready to be cut. Jeff Klingeman from Den 5 will be the Chairman for the clinic. If you have any questions, please call him at 228-8373. Bring any supplies that you may need such as paint or decals/stickers. You may purchase additional supplies such as weights, patterns and graphite at the Scout Shop in Louisville.
ONCE YOU HAVE BUILT YOUR CAR, THEN BRING YOUR CAR ON RACE DAY (SATURDAY, MARCH 11 at St. John UMC Gym).
Weigh-in begins at 9AM until 10:50AM. First race begins at 11AM. There will be prizes awarded in each rank. This year our pack purchased a new track that is 50 feet long with an electronic timer- this should make our races even more exciting!! Once again, we will have the family class of Derby racers. Family members and graduated Webelos are invited to race in this event. Family races will start after all other races have ended. Hot Dogs and snacks will be available for sale.

PARENTS - WE NEED YOUR HELP FOR UPCOMING EVENTS!!!!!
We have several upcoming events planned for our pack but unfortunately events will be cancelled unless we have parents come forward to chair these events. Every year, each den is assigned 2 or three events to chair. It is the responsibility of the Den leader to find someone in their den to chair those events. Listed below are the events - and den assignments.
*Day Camp Coordinator - Den 5
Rocksport Climbing - Den 4
Pack Picnic - Tigers
Fishing Derby - Den 8
Pool Party - Den 7
Hosedown - Den 6
Riverbats game - Den 8

*We must have a coordinator ASAP - Day camp sign -up begins soon. All events other than Day Camp will be cancelled unless we have coordinators in place by March 16. Please call Anne Luvisi- Special Events Coordinator, if you would like to chair an event - she has all the information you need. We can¡¯t run a successful Pack without YOU!!!

SECRET WORD
The Cub Scout theme for the month of February 2000 is "Turn Back the Hands of Time¡± and so the secret word for the February pack meeting will be "HISTORY¡±. Any time that you hear the secret word said by an adult leader during the pack meeting, you should yell out "The British Are Coming¡±. Pay close attention at the Pack meeting since I'm sure someone will say "HISTORY" at least once.
