May Pack Meeting - Time for Graduation

The May pack meeting brings us our special "Graduation of Ranks" ceremony where the boys will graduate to the next rank. This is to signify a closure to their present rank, which they should have completed by now, and the beginning of their next adventure in Scouting. All boys will move up a rank even if they have not completed their present rank. Please encourage all the boys to complete their present rank as soon as possible...summer is a perfect time to work on the next rank! However, if a scout needs more time, he will have until September 1st, 2000 to earn the badge in his current rank.

Dan Boone district Summer Day Camp will be here before you know it! Dates for this extra fun summer event is scheduled for June 19-23. It is held at Camp Kavanaugh in Crestwood, usually from 9am-4pm. Scouts have so much fun at day camp doing activities such as arts & crafts, BB shooting, archery, swimming, and much more. At this time, we are asking for parent volunteers to help out one, two or all five days at day camp. Debbie Morgan will be coordinating this event for our Pack. If you have any questions about the camp or if you would like to volunteer, please call her at 228-5288.

The National Summertime Award is available for scouts to earn over the summer by attending our pack sponsored activities. Scouts interested in earning this award must attend one(1) pack event in each of the months of June, July, and August. In June, we will have our Annual Pack Picnic, Cincinnati Reds Game & Pool Party in July, and in August the Hosedown. We are still in the planning stages for the Fishing Derby and a Redbirds Game at the new Slugger Field. Newsletters will continue through the summer months so watch for updates and info in the upcoming newsletters.

Our Annual Pack 154 Picnic is scheduled for Saturday, June 3 at Wendell Moore park in Buckner from 11:30-3:00. All scouts and their families are invited to attend a fun-filled event! Since our theme this year is "Space: The New Frontier," our theme related activities will include a Plane Glider Derby, Alien Sack Races, Meteor Toss, Planetary Toss and Flying Saucer toss. We will even have a Pie Eating Contest. The pack will provide hot dogs, buns, condiments, and paper goods. Please see the attached flyer for food & drink assignments for each den. Scouts should dress in a scout-related T-Shirt (if they have one). If you have any questions, please call Debbie Morgan 228- 5288. See you there!!

Scouts and their immediate family are invited to Pack 154's Pool Party on Tuesday, July 11, at the Oldham County Aquatic Center in the Wendell Moore Park, Highway 393, Buckner. The fun begins at 6:30PM with pizza and soft drinks at the park pavilion, then we will move to the pool - reserved just for our pack, all for free!!! We need a head count if you plan to eat pizza, so please let your den leader know if you plan to attend. Pool Rules - No outside food or drink allowed inside the Aquatic Center. The snack bar will be open for purchasing food and drinks inside the pool. All children 4 yrs old and younger must wear Little Swimmer diapers under their swim suits. Any questions, call Mike Tanner, 228-1704.

Take me out to the Ball Game!

Friday, July 21, Pack 154 will head out to Cincinnati to see the Reds vs. Arizona. This is a family outing so each scout must be accompanied by an adult or guardian to attend. The pack will pay for the ticket of the scout only. If you plan to attend, we need a non-refundable deposit of $10 per person from each family. Make your check payable to Pack 154. Also include name of scout and how many tickets needed. Please submit check to Bill Clarke at the May Pack meeting.
