Scouting for Food

Scouting for Food is the pack's largest service project. The food collected is redistributed right here is Oldham County, to those in need. Flyers are to be distributed on Saturday, November 11th announcing the service project. The canned and nonperishable items are then colleted the following Saturday, November 18th. Each Den is assigned a neighborhood, and is responsible for counting items collected. The delivery center this year will be the Red Cross, located in Buckner, across from Oldham County High School. The Red Cross will be open that day between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. A member of the den needs to return the report sheet to St John, that same day, which will be forwarded to the Council Office. Don’t forget your report sheet! Any questions need to be directed to Debbie Morgan.

DEN LEADERS & ASSISTANTS/ COMMITTEE MEMBERS...November 16, St. John, upstairs room. Committee Chairman Chris States leads the meeting with discussion and information valuable to our Pack. We will discuss upcoming Pack meetings and plan Popcorn sales. Den leaders and their assistants are encouraged to have representation at these meetings. All meetings will begin promptly at 6:30PM at St. John (upstairs room). As always, parents are invited and encouraged to attend. This year we will try to shorten the meetings by greater use of electronic distribution of information. Please be sure to give Chris States your email address. The best way is to contact hin by email either directly (jcstates@louisville.edu) or through the Pack 154 Website (http://pack 154_ky.tripod.com). Submit agenda items to Chris States.

CUBMASTER'S CORNER

The theme for the month of November is "Turn on the Power." All of us have POWER within us waiting for the switch to be flipped. The POWER we all have can be physical power because we keep our bodies strong, or mental power because we go through a constant process of education, or spiritual power because we maintain a close relationship with our creator. We need to turn on our POWER as often as we can because that way we can make ourselves the best we can be.

P Perseverance to keep trying until we succeed.

O Open to new ideas and ways to develop new skills

W Willing to test our limits and beyond

E Eager to help others whenever we can

R Ready to have fun and adventure

That’s all for now from your Cubmaster. I’ll see you all again in November.

TRIVIA CENTER

Did you know that Ben Franklin started working with electricity in the 1740's. He conducted many different experiments to try to understand more about it. His most famous experiment where he flew his kite with a key tied to the string was performed in June of 1752. To test his belief that lightning was a flow of electricity taking place in nature, he flew the kite during a thunderstorm. The key tied to the string became charged with electricity and Ben then proved that lightning is really just a string of electricity.

Who likes cake?

The Second Annual Cake Bake will happen at the December 11 Pack meeting! This is a parent/scout activity/fundraiser in which you bake a cake together and decorate it with a theme. The cakes are judged in various categories and then auctioned off at the the Pack meeting. So start thinking of some really great ideas. Some of the most popular cakes, which brought in over $20.00 each were the Pokeman cake by the Luvisi’s and the Cowboy cake from the States’. All the donations are used to get a chartered bus for the Pack 154 Family Paoli Peaks Ski Trip in January 2001! All scouts entering will receive a CakeBake patch as well as a certificate!!! Last year's trip took over 55 happy skiers on the trip. If you have any questions please direct them to Pamela Williams-Harris at Pammieinky@aol.com or call 228-4468.
