Haunted Woods

Saturday, October 27, Tunnel Mill Scout Camp turns into the Haunted Woods 2001. Haunted Woods is a fun event for Cub Scouts and their families. Participants can come and hike the 2.5 miles trail anytime between 11:00 and 4:00pm. Advance tickets for kids are $4 if you sign up with Debbie Ferko before Oct 8. Tickets at the door will be $8. Adults without a patch are free. Refreshments are also available, at the end of the trail. Questions? Call Debbie Ferko at 292-0177.

Spaghetti Lovers Come One Come All!

All appetites are called to SJUMC Gymnasium for fun and food. Sandra Corsentino is in charge of this years gala fund-raiser. Remember the proceeds go directly to all participating Scouts for payment of activity fees. Sandra needs volunteers to help and donations for the silent auction. The more people that volunteer the less work everybody has to do! If you did not sign up at Pack Meeting, contact Sandra at 228-5982.

COMMITTEE REPLACEMENTS NEEDED

All adult leader positions are filled by volunteers. It is essential that the parents be involved and help to keep our Pack strong. Talk to Chris States if you are willing to volunteer for any adult position in the Pack. These positions require only a few hours each month. We need your participation to keep the Pack working well.

The Pack needs a new Secretary NOW. Julie is no longer able to serve as secretary. The duties are to take notes at Committee Meeting and type the minutes. In addition, the secretary is responsible for sending thank you notes to donors and the occasional card on behalf of the Pack. Total time is less than 4 h per month. Skills required: MS-Word or WordPerfect and email.

We also need a new Special Events Chair. Allison is leading a Wolf Den and assisting in a Tiger Den. This postion also requires only 3 -4 h per month. Duties are to keep files on events and to remind event organizers when they should start preparing. Skills required: basci filing, dial a telephone.

Calling all reporters. We need a new editor of the Pack Newsletter, The Cub Scout Scoop. Mike Strapp will be crossing over in February and a replacement will be needed before then. Call Mike at 228-5476 and he will be glad to show you the ropes and secrets of putting together the newsletter.

CUB SCOUT CORNER

Webelos Resident Camp Rocks

by Den 6

We had a great time at Webelos Resident Camp. Our whole Den went together. We did many activies learned and a lot of things about safety. We earned Webelos activity pins. We hiked a lot and went on a scavenger hunt. At camp, we got to shoot BB guns. The BB instructor taught us never to point a gun at anybody. He also told us always to treat a gun as if it was loaded. We did archery and learned that when you are in archery, if the range is not clear "Cease Fire". We swam and learned water safety and how to rescue someone who is drowning. We earned the Aquanaut pin for this. We learned about dinaosaurs and dug for fossils. There was plenty of food. One night, we had a picnic with KFC and biscuits. We also learned how to cook in camp and made omelets in plastic bags. We learned how to tie different knots with ropes and built a bridge. You should go to Webelos Resident Camp to have lots of fun and learn lots of things.
