Between 1993 and 1998, Theaterschrift was one of the main international publications on the performing arts.

Published in four languages (Dutch, French, English, and German), it gave voice to a number of artists in a series of high quality contributions and interviews. In 1998, Danças na Cidade and Edições Cotovia published the last editions, Theaterschrift Extra.

It features several texts about dance, music, theatre and performance that give an 'inside' view on the Portuguese performing arts scene of the time. André Lepecki was invited to coordinate a written 'confrontation' between Portuguese artists and intellectuals and some of the statements published in the 12 previous editions of Theaterschrift.

The result is a written dialogue between the international and Portuguese arts worlds.
