Another tip I have recently discovered is that in IE6 there are two items that anyone with a broadband connection may want to *** turn off ***. In the Advanced section of Internet Options I like to turn off 'Install on Demand' both for IE and 'Other'. This makes all those spyware auto installs that used to sneak by because they were so fast you barely saw the notification box actually ask to be installed. So then you can say no or cancel them. IE 5 had one item for Install on Demand, while IE 6 has two. If you do use language support, for instance, you can leave on the IE one and turn off the 'other' one in version 6. This can be especially useful to those new to computers and the internet especially when their first online experience is a cable modem. Automatic cable speed downloads happen too fast for newbies to comprehend. Before they know it they have several of these spyware programs running and they're asking me why their computer seems slower than it used to be.
