Do you know your rights if you are stopped by the police? If a police officer asks you for identity, do you have to give it to him? Can he take a photo of you? Can he search your car without permission?

The Copwatch Lawyers will explain your rights with the police and government.

The presentations will be followed by an open discussion. The lawyers will be able to answer general questions during the question and answer periods of the forums.

The event is free and open to the public.

We will leave the park at 5:30 to march against police brutality and abuse in the valley of the sun. We must never forget the crimes of Sheriff Joe, the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office, and the Phoenix PD! These cops have the blood of the people on their hands. Come out and take a stand against the racist, murderous police state.

Parking is free at metered spaces only after 5pm in downtown Phoenix.

Bring your posters, banner, chants, and drums. WEAR BLACK!

The next day there will also be a Know-Your-Rights forum from 1-3pm at the Mesa Dobson Ranch Library on Saturday, October 23rd.

Phoenix Copwatch
The first part of the Copwatch workshop will involve an introduction to Phoenix Copwatch. Phoenix Copwatch is a citizen's group formed to combat abuse by the police in our community by a variety of means including community patrols, videotaping and community education. We will discuss what we do and what we aim to accomplish, long term and short term.
It is important that you know your basic rights, so the second part of this workshop will be a Know Your Rights forum with local lawyer Suzanne Sanchez.
