National Day Against Police Brutality March
March against police brutality.

Cesar Chavez Memorial at 3rd Ave. and
Jefferson St. in downtown Phoenix.
The day will begin with a march starting at 3:30 pm
from the Cesar Chavez Memorial at 3rd Ave. and
Jefferson St. in downtown Phoenix. The marchers will
stop at various locations in the downtown area to hear
speakers whose families, communities, and own lives
have been affected by police brutality. The march will
feature street theater and speeches from community
organizers as well.

Know Your Rights Forum
A lawyer will be educating people about their rights when they interact with the police.

A “Know Your Rights” forum will start at 6 pm at
Counter Culture Café, 2330 E. McDowell Rd., to educate
participants about their rights when dealing with the
police. A lawyer will present information about what
to do and say when stopped by the police, and will
answer general questions about one’s rights during
police encounters.

"Expression Against Repression" Benefit Show
Benefit show for Phoenix Copwatch and political prisoners Richard Williams and Laro Nicol

The day’s events will continue with a benefit show
featuring local bands at 8 pm, also at Counter Culture
Café. “Expression Against Repression” show audience
members will have the opportunity to donate to Phoenix
Copwatch and/or political prisoners Richard Williams
and Laro Nicol. Local musical acts Swallowing Stones,
Tuning Room, Brad B (from Drunken Immortals), Seveer
Tire Damage, Sigma and others are scheduled to play.

Phoenix COPWATCH Training Classes
Join Phoenix COPWATCH and help stop police brutality and repression.
To Join Phoenix COPWATCH you must attend both of these Copwatch Trainings Sessions. They are FREE and open to the public (well anybody except cops).
The classes cover the laws about videotaping the police, techniques used to monitor the police, and how to use the tools such as the cameras, police scanners and other equipment we use to monitor the police.

Protest Taser Abuse by the Police
Phoenix Copwatch is co-sponsoring a demonstration to protest taser abuse by the police.
A young man was killed by being
shocked
by a taser several times by police on May 3rd. Tasers are used on many
people who are not a threat to anyone's safety.
Enough is enough! Taser abuse must stop.
