Police Beat: Man arrested for allegedly lying

ASU police reported the following incidents Thursday:

A 49-year-old male was arrested Wednesday at Hayden Library on charges of trespassing and an outstanding warrant with Tempe police. Police said they confronted the man after library staff reported him as having been previously warned of trespass in the library.

A 35-year-old male was arrested Wednesday morning at Noble Library for alleged loitering. Custodial staff identified the man as having trespassed for sleeping in the building, police said. According to police, they contacted the man and ran a wants/warrants and prior contact check that revealed two prior contacts for trespassing on ASU campus. The man was cited and released.

Tempe police reported the following incidents Thursday:

A 22-year-old male was arrested Wednesday night in the 1100 block of Apache Boulevard for allegedly lying to police. According to police, the man had been riding in a car with another man who fled when the car was pulled over. The passenger allegedly said he had never met the driver before and that he was getting a ride home. But an investigation revealed that the two men were roommates, police said. The passenger was charged with one count of delaying and obstructing justice. The driver was later arrested on a charge of driving under the influence.
