Tempe - A Tempe police officer struck and killed a pedstrian early Saturday after t he man ran in front of his patrol car. At 2 a.m., Officer Bill Cullen was drving west in the far right lane of Baseline Road, near Rural Road, Officer Brandon Banks said in a statement. The pedestrian ran in front of the patrol car and was struck. He died at the scene, and hsi name has not been released. Cullen was not injured and was placed on paid administrative leave as a matter of department policy.
