Original Article Gymnastics instructor gets prison sentence for molesting two boys Associated Press Feb. 18, 2006 09:45 AM MESA, Ariz. - A Mesa gymnastics instructor has been sentenced to 6 1/2 years in prison in the molestation case of two boys he taught. Police arrested David Pyles in June after the parents of one of the boys came forward. He pleaded guilty on Jan. 10 to two counts of attempted molestation of a child. Pyles faced a five-year minimum sentence Friday in Maricopa County Superior Court under the plea deal because he had two victims, according to prosecutors. Pyles, who worked at USA Gymnastics, said he recognized he had a problem and tried to get counseling. He even quit a previous coaching job to avoid molesting children.
