Battered Reasoning (Part 1)

You ask me if I still love you

While my ribs still cry out in pain,

from the latest expression of your love

As I scramble to wash away the blood

You ask me if I still love you

But how do I explain my feelings?

I loved you for who you were and your love for me

I hate you for your cruel eyes that watched me bleeding

You ask me if I still love you

Crying as you kneel by my side

So full of hate am I

Until the moment you apologized

Maybe one day I'll have the strength to leave

But until then I shall stay and cry

Convincing myself beatings are equivalent to love

Until the day I gain self esteem...or die
