The Directors of the Grand Trunk Railway constructed a community church at Point Edward in 1865 to provide for the religious
needs of its employees. For a few years it was used by the Anglicans, Presbyterians and Methodists. Then in 1872, Company Directors provided land for a Wesleyan Methodist Church and a company house for its minister. A
church was built and dedicated in April 1873. The congregation began as part of the Sarnia Circuit, but later became the head of its own circuit - known as the Point Edward Circuit.
The congregation joined the United Church of Canada in 1925. In 1955, a decision was made to build a new church as repairs to the original building were not feasible. The first service was held in the new
church on January 25, 1959. A new manse was constructed in 1961. In addition to its affiliation with the United Church of Canada's Lambton Presbytery.
