Episode Guide

Since the best way to get to know Spike and Drusilla is to watch them on television, here is a list of all the episodes they have graced. If you're like me, and the Episode Title's Joss and Crew came up with are a little too vague to be really memorable I have included mini-synopsis' and alternative, slightly easier to remember, titles for each.

'SCHOOL HARD'   (aka Spike and Dru #1)
Spike and Drusilla, just escaped from a nasty run-in with a mob in Prague, move to Sunnydale and immediately make their presence known with The Anointed One and Buffy. While more traditionalist vampires meditate and prepare themselves for a Vampiric Holiday Feast, Spike scouts Buffy's moves - planning to add her to his 'Slayer's I Have Offed' list.
Spike jumps the gun on the Feast and mayhem ensues in the corridors of Sunnydale High.

First Aired: September 29, 1997

'HALLOWEEN'
Spike and Dru really don't have much to do with this episode. It focus' mostly on Buffy and the Gang and sets up the tension between Giles and his old friend (though how close a friend we're not sure) Ethan Raine. Spike has some cute lines but it seems that their entire involvement is just a reason for Buffy to kick Spike's ass at the last minute.

First Aired: October 27, 1997 (October 31, 1997 in Canada)

'LIE TO ME'  (aka Ford)
Spike and Dru play very pivotal roles in this episode as the quest for Dru's cure continues. The main story line follows Buffy's seemingly chance reunion with her fifth grade crush and supposed dear friend, Billy Fordham. Ford seems all right at first, but cracks begin to appear in his friendly veneer. Ford almost literally makes a deal with the devil, leaving Buffy in a very tight spot..

First Aired: November 3, 1997

WHAT'S MY LINE - PART I  (aka Dru's Cure Part I)
The search for Dru's cure seems to have hit a snag and Spike is loosing his patience. Dru becomes weaker by the hour and if he can't discover how to revive his beloved soon, her days are surely numbered. In an act of desperation Spike calls on a squad of preternatural hit-men to take care of Buffy and Angel. While Buffy is dealing with her would-be assassins, Giles and Willow race against the clock as they try to beat Spike to the chase. Kendra and Willie are both introduced.

First Aired: November 17, 1997

WHAT'S MY LINE - PART II  (aka Dru's Cure Part II)
With Dru's cure completed all Spike needs now is the secret ingredient and a full moon. While Buffy and Kendra try to figure out what exactly is going on, Spike buys a weakened Angel from Bar-Keep to the Undead, Willie, and takes his sire back to the homestead to await sacrifice. Drusilla tortures Angel (most deservingly), finally getting a chance to pay him back for some of the horrors he committed against her. The moon rises and the spell is cast . . . . uh-oh.

First Aired: November 24, 1997

SURPRISE  (aka Spike and Dru Return)
As Buffy's friends plan for her birthday party, Spike plans a special party of his own. Drusilla has been fully restored (though Spike is badly injured and very weak) and the two love-birds are planning for this to be a coming out party no one will forget, or survive. Dru un-dismembers the Judge, planning to (what else?) destroy the world. Angel and Buffy narrowly escape a botched recon mission and with one rash decision completely change both their lives.

First Aired: January 9, 1998

INNOCENCE  (aka Angelus)
They definitely should have waited! With one moment of  'pure happiness' the gypsy curse that restored Angel's soul a century ago has been canceled out and the deadly vampire Spike and Dru revered is back. Their 'family' whole again, Spike, Drusilla and Angelus plan to use the Judge to (you guessed it) destroy the world. As Buffy is left reeling with the knowledge that she essentially just killed her lover - and the Gang races to find a way to destroy the undestroyable - Spike realizes that having 'Daddy' home may not be all it seemed. Giles tries to deal with Jenny's 'betrayal' and the countdown towards the end of the world begins (again).

First Aired: January 20, 1998

BEWITCHED, BOTHERED, AND BEWILDERED  (aka Valentine's Day)
Spike and Drusilla have very little to do with this episode. The story revolves mostly around Angel's growing obsession with Buffy's downfall and a botched love spell that leaves every female in Sunnydale lusting after Xander (except, of course, the one woman he actually wants). Dru has a deliciously hilarious bit near the end with Xander. Angelus spends almost all his screen time with Spike tearing at his eldest-offspring's self-confidence and making you ache for a pointy wooden thing with his name on it.

First Aired: February 10, 1998

PASSION  (aka Angelus Kills Jenny)
Yet another episode pivoting around the new dynamic between Buffy and Angelus. Jenny tries to translate the ancient spell that would give Angel his soul back. Angelus is not happy with this and kills her, leaving her broken body in Giles' bed for him to find. But Jenny has cracked the code and saved the spell on disk. The only question now: Will Buffy find it in time? After putting up with weeks of humiliation and every wheelchair jab in the book, Spike shares with us his little secret. He can stand again, thus setting the foundation all sorts of 'Angelus Whipping' senarios.

First Aired: February 24, 1998

I ONLY HAVE EYES FOR YOU  (aka Love and a .45)
Spike and Dru have very little to do with this story about a couple of restless spirits and the jealous (and unfortunately murderous) rages that seem to be plaguing couples of Sunnydale High. Spike has a wonderfully spiteful, sarcastic line that he throws at Angel at the end.

First Aired: April 28, 1998

BECOMING - PART I  (aka The Kathla)
The beginning of the end for many things. Angel rescues a Portal To Hell called The Kathla from the hands of Sunnydale's Local Archeology Society. He plans to (come on say it with me) destroy the world with it and suck us all into Demon Disneyland. Meanwhile Kendra returns to warn Buffy of impending doom and the two Slayers try to decide on a plan of action. Drusilla - completely under the spell of her 'adoring' sire - stampedes the Library with a handful of minions with murder in her heart . . . but not for everyone. Dru leaves moments later, taking Giles with her, leaving two of the friends broken and unconcious, and one dead.

First Aired: May 12, 1998

BECOMING - PART II  (aka Spike and Dru Exit, aka Ohh I Need A Hug)
As Angelus tries to torture the answers he needs out of a defiant Giles, Buffy wanders the streets - now alone and a fugitive. In a turn of events that I saw coming back with SCHOOL HARD, Spike and Buffy reluctantly team up to defeat Angelus and the Kathla. Buffy finally tells her mother her secret and Spike negotiates Drusilla's life for Giles'. Giles is tricked into telling Dru the secret that will unlock The Kathla as Willow plans to use Jenny's spell to restore Angel's soul. Buffy is too late to stop the Kathla from opening, so she and Angelus just try to kill each other. Spike spirits Dru away before Buffy can go back on her word and Buffy is forced to sacrifice a love for the safety of the world.

First Aired: May 19, 1998

LOVER'S WALK  (aka Spike is Back)
A heartbroken, and very sorry-for-himself Spike returns to Sunnydale to pay back those he believes are responsible for Drusilla leaving him after their last exit. James Marsters makes Spike both funny and pathetic, but also very sympathetic in (what I think is) his best episode yet. Spike kidnaps Willow and Xander (as incentive) and forces her to agree to concoct a love spell for him. If Willow cannot make Dru love him again, Spike will kill Xander. But as if anything is that simple in Sunnydale. Buffy and Angel are forced to help Spike, and the three are mobbed by a group of vamps looking for Spike's head. Spike has the most beautiful monologue about love and Buffy and Angel's feeble attempt to 'just be friends'. In the end Spike come to his senses and heads after Dru. Barreling down the hi-way and singing at the top of his lungs to Sid Vicious' My Way (apparently, Sid killed a cat).

First Aired: November 24, 1998

That's all for now, but not forever. James Marsters and Juliet Landau will be reprieving their roles as everyone's favourite undead duo at least a few more times on BUFFY. As soon as those episode's air, I will add them on.
