The Hours Of Waiting - Part Seven & Eight

I wish I were on yonder Hill
Tis there I'd sit and cry my fill
Till every tear would turn on me.

Drusilla ran her fingers, pale as winter snow through her soft dark hair as she sang the old Irish ballad softly. Angelus and Darla were out hunting now. So she could sing and not be punished, or beaten. Safe.

Suil ga suchee la ga suil gaul quuen
Suil go reene sagh a sie le lun

The strangely bittersweet Gaelic words poured from her small pink lips and into the chilled night air.

I'll sell my rock
I'll sell my ring
I'll sell my only spinning wheel
and buy my love a sword of steel

She sighed and closed her thin fingers over Miss Edith's china hand and lifted the doll from the shelf. She took a small silver brush from the vanity and ran it through the dark curls of her doll's hair.

She didn't hear the downstairs door open over her light singing and the concentration on her doll.

I wish I wish in vain
I wish I had my heart again
And vainly think I'd not complain

Nor did she hear the soft footfalls up the stairs and in the hall outside her door as she continued her song.

Angelus opened the door and she snapped her head up and closed her mouth tight. His eyes blazed in fury.
"What did I tell you about that!?"
She didn't reply and dropped her eyes to the ground.
"Drusilla, you had better answer me!"
"No singing..." She said quietly
"And *why* did I say that?"
"Because a Devil child doesn't deserve to sing. It's too beautiful and I taint it." She choked out.
He nodded solemnly. "Now, you know you punishment Drusilla."
She nodded her eyes still trained on the ground.
As Drusilla rose he took her arm and said "Darla's going to be out all day."
He lead her to his bedroom.

Later that day

Drusilla rolled on to her stomach and stared past her sleeping sire at the wall. She blinked back tears and memories of her old love flashed through her insane mind and surfaced only to bury again with other long lost dreams and hopes. She glanced at the vase on the nightstand. Dead daisies drooped over the rim and the tears welled up again.

"Always die... they always die" she murmured "They always die William"

London, 3 years later

"Silver, like sparkling jewels the rain. I like watching it, especially on nights like these, when the full pale moon hangs out over the lake near our house. It's sings such pretty songs to me, but I won't answer." Drusilla giggled as Darla ran the brush through her long dark hair. Darla smiled sweetly.
"I've always wanted Angelus to make another female, one who I could play with..." She cooed in Drusilla's ear. Darla set the brush aside and gathered some hair pins from the vanity. She pulled Drusilla's thick hair back and  parted it. She let the bottom half fall back into place and then took some combs from the drawer and pushed them into the raven hair. She pulled the hair back and circled it around her hand. Then she stuck two hair pins in her creation. She pulled her hand out and then  pulled the hair  down. At the end Drusilla had a mound of curls atop her head and the rest of her hair hung down straight.

The door creaked open and the two women stood quickly. Drusilla shut the French windows as Darla put all the things back in the drawers. Then she threw the flowers on the vanity out the last opened window and shut it quickly then she hid the crystal vase under the bed. They sat quickly on the couch across the room. Darla opened her book and pretended to read, and Dru grabbed her favorite doll and brushed the silken hair.

The steps squeaked as the heavy feet connected with the wood. They flinched internally as the oak door was thrown open and Angelus stood before them. He smirked and spoke.

"Drusilla, Darla, I have brought us a guest. Please come down to the Lounge and meet him."
They stood and followed him down the steps, their heads down, gazes to the ground and walking a few feet behind him. They entered the sparsely lit lounge and Angelus greeted their visitor. Drusilla and Darla stood back, concealed among the shadows not moving a muscle.

"Hello, so glad you could come and discuss this little "business" with me" Angelus began "But... before we begin, I'd like to introduce you to my family. Come here, girls" He motioned to the darkened shadows.

Darla stepped through first she kept her eyes down and curtsied before coming to take Angelus' arm. As Drusilla stepped into the light a gasp leapt into the visitor's throat.

"Drusilla...?" He breathed harshly. Her eyes went up in shock and she cried out. Angelus watched with a smirk across his face
