Brief synopsis of career:
Born in Montreal, Joanne began performing at the age of three when she started dancing lessons.  She eventually joined a troupe for young people, doing theater in Montreal.

She left home at 14 and headed for Toronto. Less than a year later she was on stage in Brad Fraser's play Wolfboy, which also starred Keanu Reeves. When she was 17, she wrote and directed the play "Just Me," which was performed at the Montreal Film Festival. In 1987, she starred in Wonderworks' "Taking Care of Terrific", which won the New York International Film and Television Festival Silver Medal. Later that same year she became a regular in the television series "9B". Her momentum continued when she won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Performer in a Children's Special in 1990 for her role as the lead in "Maggie's Secret", a CBS Schoolbreak Special. She made her theatrical debut in 1993 with the release of another story by Brad Fraser, "Love & Human Remains".  Nominated for five Genie Awards (Canada's Oscar equivalent), including Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role for Joanne, it won Best Adapted Screenplay, and was presented as a gala in the 1993 Toronto Festival of Festivals.

Joanne currently makes her home in Toronto.
