.
In the spring of 1993 seven members from the bands of Hatrix, Terror, Unified Culture,
Ritual, Purgatory , Trelleborg and Spudmonsters started a side project. They brought
together a blend of music and a put on a stage show. They wore masks to hide their
identitis but now are used for there stage show. when they were in there other bands
they would practice on the fifth floor in a building in the Westside of Cleveland.there
after they practiced many of them stayed and jammed for a little while. Then it ended
up that seven came together and formed what started out, as a side project witch is now
Mushroomhead. They put together a blend of metal electronic and rap and hip hop
to form there sound. They played their first show in October 1993 at Flash's concert
club. Over the next year they played alot and got good reviews .They releasesed their
first album that was self-titled Mushroomhead. The crowds kept on growing and
growing. The fans base got really big and they ended up selling out most of
Cleveland's venues. They opened for bands like Marilyn Manson, Type O Negative,
Anthrax, Misfits,Gwar and more. In September of 1996 they released their second
Album Superbuick. This album is the most liked album from the two cds that have been
released as I found out. They went to St. Louis to play the Midwest Regional Music
Conference in June of 1997. In September that year they released a cd/cdrom remix cd.
That was also in a 12" vinyl too. Now Mushroomhead was selling out place like the
Agora and larger venues. They played at the CMJ conference in New York City. And
they played the NXNE music conference in Toronto. On October of 1999 they released
M3 the third album. They had 1,000 copies at the agora and each copy sold that night.
Mushroomhead headlined the Cleveland World Series of Metal four years in a row from
1997-2000. Bands like Drain STH, Overkill Six Feet Under opening for them. On May
13 1999 Mushroomhead opened the season at Blossom Music Center. They didn't sell
out but for a local band the brought in 4,000 people.
They have appeared on Bluetorch TV and on Props Home Videos. On May 8, 2000 Mushroomhead will be releasing there FIRST national debut album titled "XX". It will have songs form all the three previous cd. Eclipse Records will be releasing it. The line up went in 1993 it was Jeffery Nothing vocals, J Mann vocals, Skinny drums, Schmotz keyboards, J.J Righteous guitars, Mr.Murdernickel Bass, Dinner guitars, Broson Jones dancer, Roxy dancer. And chamberlin no data. In 1996 the line up changed a little. Mr. Murdernickel was not a member anymore and they brought in Pig Benis as bass, and chamberlin was no more too. Now in 2000, the line up is J Mann vocals, Jeffery Nothing vocals, Skinny drums, Schmotz as keyboards, J.J Righteous as guitars, Dinner left and they brought in Gravy to replace him. Roxy left in the summer of 1999. They have been compared to Faith No More; there influences are Black Sabbath, Faith No More, Meshugah, Slayer, Bad Brains, Negative Approach, Bjork, 2 Pac, Charles Manson. Right now most of them are in side projects too. Gravy, Skinny, Pig Benis and Jmann are in a hardcore Metal group called 216. Jmann and Skinny are in a rap project called 10,000 Cadillacs witch they release their second cd for that. And they also have there own record label witch put out a lot of there own records. clevelands best kept secret is out..and going to hit hard
