Sig Tag Tutorial

*This is very much under construction. If there are any broken links or some step I missed, please notify me.)
This is a tutorial on how to add a sig tag to your email messages in Outlook Express using Front Page Express or a similar editor. You must have an html editor. (I have also attached a template) Please bear with a rookie tutorial writer! I may over explain or under explain. If there are ever any questions or tips, please email me!
#1. Create a folder in your C (or whatever letter your main drive is) and name it Sig Tags. (This is the best place because it will be easy to access)
#2. Now, put the sig tag image that you want to use into your Sig Tags folder. You can use jpg, gif, or bmp images.
#3. Now for the fun part, the HTML! Open a new page in Front Page Express. Now, simply add the image where you want (centered, left, right). If you want to add a link to your web page, add it like you normally would in your editor. Basically you are creating a web page. I have enclosed a template here.
Change where the image is stored to: C:\Sig Tags/ Notice the slashes are opposites, this must be done or your image will show up as a red x!
Just change where it says "yourimagehere.jpg (in red) to the name of your image exactly, including the extension. Change YOUREMAILADDRESS (in green) to your email address. Change YOURLINK.COM (in green) to your web site address.
#4. Now be sure to save both your html web page for your sig tag and your image for your sig tag both in the C:/Sig Tags folder. Remember how you named the html.
#5. On to Outlook Express. First check to be sure you have mail set to send and receive html. In Outlook, go to Tools, Options, Send tab. Make sure you have it set to "Mail Sending Format - HTML." Always be sure that "Reply to messages using etc.. " is NOT checked. Next, click on the top where it says "Signatures". Put a check mark beside Add signatures to all outgoing mail.
#6. There in the first box it says Signatures, click on the button to the right that says "New". You should see Signature #1 now.
#7. In the box that states "Edit Signature" click on the dot where it says "file". Now browse to where you saved your Sig Tag folder. Important: Change "Files of type" to "All files". Now click ok.
#8. Be sure to hit apply and then ok.
Last Step: Open a new message and test it. Be sure to send yourself a message to make sure it is received ok.
If you see a red x, check your html as stated in #3. Is your image in the same folder? Did you type the correct name and file extension of the image you added? Is it an image your editor can read - jpg, gif or bmp? If you are still stuck, email me your html and I will see what I can do!
