Hi, I am Sailor -  the Portuguese Water Dog.  I am 8 years old and I am the alpha dog in this household.  My full name is Tesouro Blue Sky Sweet Sailin but here at home I am known as Sailor, or Wooo Chin, or just Wooo!  I achieved that name by being a very vocal dog who likes to raise my chin to the sky and do a little "arroooo wooo!"  I do this when I don't like what my human mom just told me (I always like to get in the last word) or when my human dad comes home and I run and greet him with my "arrrooooo woooo!"   I am so good at this, I can even do it with a "stuffy" in my mouth. I love to prance and swing my behind and even my head sometimes when I do this.  People seem to love it, so I think I am very special.
 
I share my domain with Jaimee, my "sister".  She can be a real pain in the neck.  Life was a whole lot easier before she came along.  Mom says we have a love/hate relationship.  She would be okay if she didn't pester me so much, and if she would quit grabbing my neck!

Hi! I am Jaimee, Standard Poodle Extraordinaire!  My real name is Canam's Jammin' With The Band.  I am a  4 yr old *blue* Standard Poodle (SP), some people think I am silver but that is just not true.  I was born black and it took me two years to start changing color.  Mom says that I am like a very special present that takes years to open before you  know what you really have.  Mom says it is just a color, but I think it truly means I have "blue" blood, blood of royalty!  Mom says that I do come from very excellent bloodlines but I am most certainly not royalty, and then she had me spayed!!  Sigh....
 
My "brother" Sailor thinks he rules the household - hah!  He may be alpha but I am the one that rules the household.  I run around making sure that all is running just as I want it to run and if Sailor isn't behaving as I think he should behave then I charge him and grab his neck...he runs to mom for help!  Does that sound like an alpha to you?   I must say -- he is a nasty boy sometimes, he simply will not let me play with certain toys when he decides he wants them....he will nail me to the floor if I try to take it from him!  Yikes.  I best submit or I will get beat up!  But I get even later.  I torment him, trying to get him to play all the time.  Mom says that my grabbing him by the neck does come in handy when she wants him to come in from outside and he is too interested in eating dirt....then she sends me out to "get him" and he goes flying up to the house!  Hehehe, at least my bad habit comes in handy for something.  Mom won't let Sailor wear a collar very often because she is afraid of me getting a tooth caught on his collar and choking him.  She knows someone who had a 8 mos old Lab that happened to.
 
I love to run, I love to play, I love to retrieve best of all!  I love Jolly Balls, and frisbees.  Mom says I would make a good hunting dog, I "mark" things just like a good retriever would do, and run to bring them back to her hand.
 
I hope you enjoy my beautiful pictures in our albums.  I love to pose, unlike Sailor who hates to.  My grandam is "Story" (Ch Peguy Canams My By Line Story) who was the Oster representative dog for a year, I think it was during 1999 and her pics were in all the dog magazines.  I think I get my love for posing from her.
 
Please pay close attention to the health links and especially look at the links for Addison's as it affects many dogs, mixed and purebred and is a special problem with both the SP's and the PWD's. 
 
Before you purchase a dog, really research what you desire/expect in the dog you would choose to live with --  coat maintenance, energy level; and then talk with several reputible breeders before you decide this is the breed for you.  Ask about heath testing in parents and beyond in the background of the pup available, ask about warranty.  Please spay and neuter your pet, it doesn't matter how fantastic the bloodlines are on your beloved new pup, breeding should be left up to the breeders who have spent years in researching the lines, are willing to do the health testing, and who also are willing to take the risk of losing their bitch should complications crop up during pregnancy or whelping, because unfortunately that is a real risk.  And remember, that pup you will choose to bring home -- it should be a lifetime decision and will take a lot of work on your part to make it work out to be a dream come true.
